Dextera Consulting is proud to announce its role as a key partner and Work Package Leader in REMERGE, an ambitious four-year EU-funded project advancing personalised cardiovascular disease (CVD) management. Funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Staff Exchanges, REMERGE unites leading universities, clinical institutions, and innovative SMEs across Europe and Türkiye to bring virtual twin (VT) technology and artificial intelligence straight into practical clinical workflows.
The Mission: Tackling the Global CVD Challenge
Cardiovascular disease remains the world’s leading health burden, with global mortality projected to exceed 32 million by 2050. While digital health solutions like virtual patient twins show immense promise in simulating disease progression and treatment outcomes, most remain trapped in the proof-of-concept phase. REMERGE bridges this gap by merging mechanistic physiological models with predictive AI, breaking data silos, and facilitating cross-sector knowledge exchange to deliver safer, tailored cardiovascular care.
Project Snapshot
Coordinated by Harokopio University of Athens in Greece, the consortium brings together seven partners across six countries, including Greece, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Cyprus, and Türkiye. Supported by a total project budget of €1,457,910, Dextera has been allocated €205,410 (14.1% of the total) to lead core integration initiatives.
Dextera’s Role: Building the Central Platform
As the leader of Work Package 4 (REMERGE Integrated Platform) and an active contributor across all work packages, Dextera drives the design, development, and system integration uniting the project's virtual twin models, AI/ML analytics, and clinical data flows. Dextera applies its deep expertise in data privacy and security through privacy-by-design principles, ensures adherence to Ethical, Legal, and Social Impact (ELSI) standards, and leads crucial training and dissemination efforts. Furthermore, Dextera leverages its background in serious games and AI-enabled mobile applications to transform complex clinical data into engaging, accessible digital health tools for both clinicians and patients.
